Cody wrote his first song while in fourth grade and dreamed of a life of music throughout high school. As a young adult he was accepted into Young American Showcase in Orlando. He performed at high school assemblies across the United States alongside the likes of Brad Avery (Third Day), Scott Alexander (Dishwalla), Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow) and Edwin McCain.
Returning to Texas in 1993, Cody continued to polish his musical abilities by traveling as a guitar player and vocalist in every type of band, from country to funk to rock. For years he indulged in the spoils that come with being a musical front man – everything from cars to women to drugs. But he eventually realized his "life sucked," he says on his website. In 2004 he turned his life to Christ and now works with Broken Ministries, based in his hometown.
