Cornell Kinderknecht is a performer of historic and ethnic woodwind instruments from cultures around the world. His original contemporary instrumental music is a unique style combining his experience in the genres of symphonic, chamber, pop, jazz, folk and world music. He performs in many musical styles and composes much of his own material. His main focus is on Early Music (Baroque and Renaissance) and Contemporary World Music. In June 2005, he released Returning Home, a solo CD of original instrumental music.
Cornell received a music degree in woodwind performance, focusing on modern oboe, bassoon, and historic woodwinds. He has studied recorder in workshop settings with some of the finest players and teachers in the U.S. and Europe. Instruments that Cornell performs on include recorders, Native American style flute, Indian bansuri, bamboo flutes, ocarina, oboe, and English horn.
Cornell was a finalist for Musician of the Year at the 2006 Texas Music Awards.

West Fest Polka Festival Westfest kicks off the the weekend on Friday evening with the Miss Westfest Contest. Gates to the fairground (in West, Texas, south on I-35 just beyond Hillsboro) open at 5:30 p.m., and you can hang out touring the food booths until closing time at 12:30 a.m. If there was ever a place to do your "wurst," this is it, folks!
