Emily Elbert is a 17-year-old Texas musician whose deep musical roots and love for creative expression led her to the development of her debut album, Bright Side. As a third-generation professional musician, Emily wrote, arranged, performed, co-produced, and independently released the album in the summer of 2006. She began in the music world competing as a classical pianist, but after teaching herself to play guitar, found that her greatest passion was in singing music of her own. Hungry to learn, she soon became a part of the her school's national award-winning Renaissance chamber group, and studied jazz in programs of University of North Texas and Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Emily was named one of three top winners of Texas Music Project’s "Texas 10 Under 20" Contest, a winner of a four-year scholarship to Berklee College of Music, the winner of Berklee's Performing Songwriter Contest, a finalist in the Dallas Songwriters Association Awards, a Runner-Up for Relix Magazine’s 2006 JAM OFF!, and the musical guest on an episode of Good Morning Texas. She most often performs at outdoor festivals, coffeehouses, benefits and clubs.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
