Greg Pherigo began writing songs in earnest a few years ago as a reaction to the dispassionate and soulless sounds that seemed to be pushing down on him from all sides. He wanted to write songs like those he enjoyed listening to himself. So he withdrew to ponder, and now, after several years of self-imposed exile in undisclosed locations, he has returned to Texas (and his cherished stomping grounds) with a head full of songs and determination. Whether it’s lamenting troubled love or dysfunctional society, Greg strives to write songs that are real and emotive.

Redefining the Disfranchised: The Political Art of Nina Allender As we continue to celebrate the 88th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote, there's a prime opportunity to view influential art from the era. Nina Evans Allender drew political cartoons for The Suffragist from 1914 into the 1920s, transforming stereotypical views of who a suffragist was. Over the years, Allender contributed more than 250 political cartoons to the movement, a number of which are on display at the Women's Museum at Fair Park. More info
