In the late '80s, Euthanasia was formed by brothers Calvin and David Higgs, Steven Johnston and Ricky Stanberry. Though it remained a garage band, the foundation of what is now Splinter was set in place. After about six months, though, Ricky left the band, got drunk and joined the military. The group disbanded for years but ultimately reformed in 2003 under the name "Splinter." With the addition of Troy Little in 2004, the band began playing shows again. In 2006, Little left the band and was replaced by Mikey Smith.
