A concerned reader says:
Is there a plan to rotate the "Hot Topic" section of the homepage? I suspect that a couple of stories (the Mavs song contest, for example), will _never_ be outdone in terms of reply count. Perhaps the "Hot Topic" could be the hottest topic using a rolling average over the past 30 days or something similar. I can only speak for myself, but that's what I'd like to see: "what are the Hot Topics _now_".
This one of a patch of things that you may see some lag on right now. The way we've always intended the "Hot Topics" box to work is to actually list the most recent comments, wherever they are on the site. Much in the same way we intend the featured radio station list to be automated, along with recent live recordings, top downloads etc.
Part and parcel of having a small volunteer workforce is that we have to pick our shots. And a lot of these things are being fixed en masse right now, along with a boatload of site enhancements and new features -- all to launch in early-mid June. The additions are so sweeping that internally we're referring to the release as "TexasGigs 3.0." (1.0 = Cindy's original blog; 2.0 = the December relaunch.)
So be patient with our construction mess for the next few weeks -- nothing to be broken, but our manually-driven "hot" selections may not be updated quite as frequently since they take developer time. And don't fear change -- everything you love about TexasGigs is still going to be right here.
We're just turning it up to 11.

Comics page... you need a comics page. Only there aren't any comics on the page. Its short films that people can watch at work. I can see it now...
