Quik Trip -- based in Oklahoma but with numerous outlets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area -- has a strange new ad campaign that can be spotted at pumps such as this one on Jupiter and Plano Parkway:
I guess the idea is that gasoline should be cherished like fine wine? Or that Quik Trip's gas is better than other gas. Or maybe the point is that it isn't supposed to make sense.

I think it has to do with the fact that, at $90+ a barrel, gasoline may soon be approaching the price of a Cinquième Cru Bordeaux.

Hmmmm, bottle of wine or a barrel of gas - quit your whinin' (no, the terrible pun is not intended).
I can understand the fine wine bit - quality above other gas and what not. But wtf is "guaranteed gasoline"? Do other stations pump milk by mistake on occasion?

I was also confused when I saw that sign. I started wondering whether QT was producing gas from crude oil aged in special barrels, whether that kind of aging would give your exhaust a particular (hint of cherry?) musk... but then my tank was full and my thoughts went right back to how expensive it is to fill up now a days. Oye.

I've tasted some wine that tastes about as good as QT's gasoline.
