The Django cake

Square Pegs

Published: September 30, 2008

I'm belated in mentioning that Django, the open-source development framework that underlies most of our technology, recently reached the milestone of its 1.0 release, meaning that it is stable, battle-tested and ready for widespread use.

Our team not only uses Django, but is active in its ongoing development, helping edit training materials, contributing to the codebase and participating in developer "sprints" that helped push the framework to its 1.0 release.

So, while we should have congratulated them sooner, our friends down the hall at The Barber Shop did it for us today. Brett gave them some advice on a Django job recently, and as a thank-you / congratulations, they brought us a yummy Django cake, even taking the trouble to get the logo spot-on accurate:

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought it was the way of the world for a suit to dream up what needs to happen, brow-beat the dev team until it happens, and accredit someone else when it happens (likely himself).

I'll have my proxy PN, damn you!
