The folks over at BlahBlahBlah are reporting that Ben's Halfyard House will shut down on June 9th. Too bad, Ben's was always a cool hangout and relatively close to the office. Oh well, I'm over it.

Sigh. That is where Mrs. Pegasus and I met.

I second that sigh. I have many fond (and a few not-so-fond) memories of watching college basketball games there with friends.

Third to the sigh...I met my husband there, too. At least, we THINK that's where we met! Happened so long ago, our memories are a bit cloudy :)

Fourth sigh here... best place in town to watch 6 hours of NFL games with two or three buddies, order some burgers and seemingly endless Guiness half-yards ....and end up spending less than the cost of an appetizer at some Uptown "sports bars" I could mention.

A shame. Not only did Mr. Peg and I first meet there (playing trivia, of course), but that was the first place that I went out for drinks in Dallas after moving here back in the blistering summer of 1995.
My native-Texan college friend who took me there for my first half-yard referred to Greenville Avenue as "miles of smiles." Of course, this was back when the Ben's waitresses all used to all wear those serving-wench-heaving-bodice dresses. Oh, the mammaries . . .
