Former Carter standout making national headlines for Texas Tech

The way Michael Crabtree is performing in the his first seven collegiate games is nothing short of spectacular. Even with his phenomenal start, Crabtree's name is only linked with the Heisman on blogs and Raiders fan sites. No, real national attention, yet. True, Crabtree's on a team that is made for a guy who can catch the ball, but his stats warrant at least a few hundred votes to get him boosted onto the bottom of ESPN.com's Heisman list.

Crabtree's caught 78 passes for 1,244 yards and 17 touchdowns. It's worth mentioning again that those numbers have been posted in the first seven games of his young receiving career. He's on pace to reach astronomical numbers, breaking many NCAA records along the way. The New York Times put out a nice feature chronicling Crabtree's feats, including his multi-sport career at Carter.

This Saturday, Crabtree and the rest of the Tech offense travel to take on Missouri, who is led by Southlake native Chase Daniel.
