23-year-old Mesquite resident Justin Turner was killed early Saturday (Aug. 9) after Dallas police say he used a box cutter to slash the hand of one of several bouncers responding to his (Mr. Turner's) drunken disturbance. The incident occurred in an alley in the 2500 block of McKinney Ave.
Another bouncer pulled a pocket knife and stabbed Turner in the chest after Turner made slashing motions at him with the blade; he (Turner) was pronounced dead at Parkland Hospital at around 1:20 a.m.

Sounds to me theres more to this story. Most bouncers can put you in a hold in 5 seconds flat. I have a feeling the bouncer overreacted per normal and asserted their alpha-male testosterone-cum-'roid laded rage all over a drunk. Its not the first time its happened and unfortunatly, probably won't be the last.

Justin was a victim of a homicide- no matter how it is sliced and diced. No one is even mentioning the two other friends who were beaten and stomped to near death nearby while Justin was being stabbed. Just because a newspaper released an article without checking all facts or talking to ANYONE in Justin's camp, does not mean that all is factual...now everyone here has interests to protect and a side to defend- understandably...but all things, in turn, will come to light.

I want to start out by stating that this is Justin’s biological brother leaving this comment. Not a friend that considers Justin a brother, although he certainly had many. This has been evident by the large and diversified group of people who have celebrated his memory. I can't even begin to thank you for your support. The funeral director shared with us that Justin had one of the largest turnouts that he had witnessed. I know first hand that Justin would have been proud to know that so many cared for him.
Justin was a very sincere kid who loved nearly everybody he encountered and thrived on making people happy. His nickname was "SMILES" due to the simple fact that he was always a positive person to be around. The only time he was not smiling was when he was singing, and he had a remarkable gift for memorizing nearly every song he heard.
One of the other victims involved in this tragedy has been my best friend for over fifteen years. We are now in our mid-thirties; he is a successful man who manages a company that he has been with for nearly twenty years. He is a family man who often steps out of his own family circle and has been a big brother to not only my baby brother, but other kids who were in need of help and guidance. Over the last fifteen years, you were more likely to see him coaching a pee-wee team then visiting a bar. This man was nearly beat to death. Literally
It has been nearly three weeks since I lost my brother. This is the first time that I have had the strength to read through all the comments posted here. After reading through the comments it's obvious that this has turned into a bias shouting match between friends and family of both parties involved and of course, curious stranger's who seem to have strong opinions about a story that has only presented a very limited amount of details.
One thing that I am certain of is that we could not be further away from the truth. I will not try to speculate about the truth, but rather rally with the rest of the survivors, friends and family on our quest for justice. This requires the assistance of a professional trained to gather accurate information.
They say there are two sides to every story, and then there is the truth. Please help us fund the journey to the truth by donating to the “Justice for Justin Fund.” I challenge anyone who has followed this story to help us find out what really happened, whatever the outcome…..

Yeah, what is this shouting match you speak of? I'm not sure any of us posting here were there or know exactly what happened. Just seems apparent there seems to be more to the story.

It's a copy/paste from DMN's site. Apparently there's been more of a shouting match over there.

Todd beat me - good work. Well - I'll take the annoyance. I'd rather have my problems today.
