DESOTO On Aug. 11 the DeSoto Food Pantry opened its doors to qualifying applicants.
After many meetings to organize and plan the pantry, visits to other area food banks, training with the North Texas Food Bank, and donations from Great Days of Service commodity drive in June, the facility is ready to start accepting applicants.
“This is a brand new, limited-scope food pantry that will serve the city of DeSoto and parts of Glenn Heights," said board member Suzanne Phillips. "The food pantry is an all-volunteer, community-supported effort to address the growing hunger problem in our area.”
Efforts are being made to get the word out that food is available.

Great piece and great shot of Buttermilk and Scarecrow from The Biscuit Bros, my nephew loves that show...Too bad KERA is too cheap to acquire it.
Back on the subject at hand, starting around this time of year all food banks usually see the demand increase when it comes to new applicants. Ive always been told by people who run pantries and food banks one important thing: Donate Money. This will allow them to purchase new canned/long shelf life foods for those in need, plus those less fortunate dont want your creamed corn/beanie weenie/canned spinich toss-outs.
