North Richland Hills man arrested for August murder

Suspect: Gary Haga
On August 18, 2008 at approximately 8:00 a.m. the North Richland Hills Police Department was contacted about a deceased person at the Shadow Creek Apartment complex located in the 6700 block of Buenos Aires Drive. 49-year-old Gabriel Diaz of North Richland Hills, was discovered deceased on his living room floor by a friend. Diaz had suffered extensive traumatic injuries to his head and face.
Detectives began to trace the activity of Diaz, including his whereabouts for the evening of August 18th. It was discovered that he had left a local bar in the early morning hours of August 19th in the company of the suspect, 24 year old North Richland Hills resident, Gary Haga. Evidence gathered pursuant to the investigation led detectives to obtain a search warrant for Haga’s home, and subsequently an arrest warrant for Haga. Haga was arrested the same day (August 19th) without incident, and is currently being held in the North Richland Hills Jail on a $500,000.00 bond for offense Murder.
We believe this to be an isolated event involving our victim, Gabriel Diaz and suspect, Gary Haga. However, this is an ongoing investigation and North Richland Hills detectives are continuing to investigate leads in this offense.
