— The Dallas-based law firm of Taber Estes Thorne & Carr announced today that it has earned certification as a women-owned and controlled business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. The WBENC provides the most widely recognized and respected certification in the United States for firms seeking to promote diversity and inclusion in the hiring of professional service providers. The certification is a meticulous process that includes an in-depth review of a business’s ownership, management, financial practices and expertise.

“As a new firm, this certification is an important step in raising awareness among potential clients that we offer distinct advantages as both excellent attorneys as well as helping them to meet their diversity initiatives,” says Jane Taber, a founder of the firm.

According to the WBENC there are only 73 certified women-owned law firms in the United States, although the number of majority women-owned firms in the U.S. has grown at twice the rate of other firms during the past 20 years. Most publicly held corporations, as well as larger private corporations, governmental agencies and non-profit organizations utilize programs that encourage doing business with women and minority business owners.

Taber Estes Thorne & Carr PLLC is one of the few women-owned law firms in Dallas.
