Perhaps it was because she was on the short list and ultimately not chosen, but the video linked below featuring Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is nothing if not lacking in emotion. Click to watch a very calculated and dispassionate explanation as to why McCain probably chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. Of course, maybe after watching pundits and campaign aids yelling about the candidates for several months now, perhaps I've just forgotten how real people talk.

Oh please. I almost hurled listening to KBH go over the GOP script. Let's cut to the chase, Palin was chosen by Karl Rove to fill a huge GOP 'marketing gap'.
It's an irrational choice albeit a clever Hail Mary pass strategy. The issue is how to 'position' her to the 'not-smarter-than-a-fifth-grader' set of voters. It's all marketing from here and Karl Rove excels at that.

Oh, heh, reason I mentioned RATM is that they're also quite outspoken against the two-party system. Performed outside the DNC back in 2000...and again at this year's DNC. '00 was much more violent than this year, can't be so sure about their show at the RNC though.

Last time I tuned in to Rage, they were still in a post anarchic punk vein. Have they gone anywhere with that towards, well, something past just "everything sucks"? Lord I need something new in the rotation but more gripey nihilism won't help a commute one bit ;o)

Jason, unless I'm missing something, Renegades is their most recent album released in 2000. They broke up shortly after that DNC show back then and just recently reunited.

In 84, the Dead Kennedy's played a free show outside the RNC in Dallas. They too railed against the 2 party system. Lot of good the ranting of an alternative rock band does. It's very convenient for either of the major parties, to dis a single opponent than to actually say what they stand for. It's in their interest not to allow the voters more choices than us or them.
