Artists’ Showplace Gallery will host the exhibition West by Southwest opening September 12, and include artwork by each of the gallery’s 18 partners. The theme of the show is western art, and in addition to wall art with subjects such as Native Americans, cowboys and southwestern landscapes, there will be a special exhibition of southwest jewelry from Edna Designs by Tinka.

The opening reception on Friday, September 12, from 6 to 9 p.m., will expand the Southwest theme, with live music by Bill White, the nephew of famous country Western singer Jim Reeves. Bill White serves on the advisory board of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage and was named 2007 Entertainer of the Year by the Texas International Music Association. In 2000, White appeared with the “Stars of the Grand Ole Opry” at the White House in Washington, D.C. The reception is free and open to the public.

Artists’ Showplace is an airy, expansive 12,000 square-foot gallery space located at 15615 Coit Road, Suite 230, in the elbow of the southwest quadrant of Spanish Village at Coit and Arapaho. The gallery is owned and managed by a group of 18 local artists. Featured are original artworks in watercolor, oil, acrylic, colored pencil and pastel, as well as sculpture, digital art, photography, jewelry and glasswork. The gallery’s regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists' Showplace also holds workshops throughout the year by internationally known artists and offers weekly art lessons in its fully equipped classrooms.
