While many of us could not care less about where Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson kissed on New Year's and where Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson first appeared as a pair, some of you do. This little announcement via Ghostbar is for you.
Ghostbar has made its mark as a nightlife institution, not just in Dallas, but across the nation. Celebrating two years in the high life on the 33rd floor of the W Hotel, Ghostbar’s anniversary celebration on Thursday, July 3, is sure to be a crowd-pleaser with celebrity musicians Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, Biz Markie, DJ Luke Solomon and local hip-hop sensation The Big Red Rooster. In conjunction with the W Hotel, the team will party until dawn with the much-anticipated 4th of July Sleepover. Guests can either party at Ghostbar complimentary from 8pm – 2am, or sign-up for the Party Package (starting at $329) which includes two cocktails in Living Room Bar, valet parking and room. Visit www.welcometowhotels.com/idplay for more information about the Party Package.
Ghostbar has become a magnate for celebrities in Dallas. In the last two years, the nightlife hot spot has attracted Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo (locale of the special New Year’s Eve kiss); Paris Hilton; Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz; Brody Jenner (MTV’s The Hills and Laguna Beach); Luke, Andrew and Owen Wilson with gal pal Kate Hudson (first public sighting of the “it” couple); Justin Timberlake; Lily Tomlin; Jamie Foxx; Clint Eastwood; Chris Tucker (Rush Hour, Jackie Brown) and Producer Steve McEveety (Braveheart, Passion of the Christ, We Were Soldiers, Immortal Beloved), to name a few.
Last year, Ghostbar’s One-Year Anniversary shined with luminaries Nick Cannon and celebrity DJ Steve Aoki who both manned the turntables, model/actress Devon Aoki, and socialite/model Brittny Gastineau. This year’s anniversary will continue the tradition of being a memorable star-studded event.
ABOUT THE CELEBRITY HOSTS:
Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, traveling this summer on the Warped Tour, has made a name for himself, first appearing on a nationwide MC Battle on MTV’s show Direct Effect in 2002 in addition to several side music projects such as Bernie Allen, Tequila Mockingbird, and music video appearances. This will be McCoy’s second visit and sleepover event at Ghostbar (his first was the Labor Day Sleepover in 2007).
As the Ambassador of Hip-Hop, Biz Markie first surfaced on the music scene in the early '80s as a pioneer of Beat Boxer & Emcee with DJ Marley Marl & the Legendary Juice Crew All-Stars. He broke into the music industry with such songs as Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz and The Vapors and his mainstream hit Just a Friend. He has made guest appearances on albums by The Beastie Boys, Cannibus, Morcheeba, and Will Smith; toured with Chris Rock earlier this year; and even played an alien parody of himself in the movie Men in Black II. In 2005, he appeared and won the challenge on the first season of Celebrity Fit Club, a reality tv series which followed eight overweight celebrities as they try to lose weight through diet and exercise. Biz Markie is known to have an impeccable collection of vinyl and sneakers. This spring, he made history as an emcee for a party in India for billionaires Shashi and Ravi Ruia, collecting a record appearance fee of Rs 350,000. (Wikipedia)
British bloke Luke Solomon has been a fundamental part of the underground house scene for over a decade now and his contribution over the years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Luke began his professional DJ career in 1990 with a residency at Middlesex University, which is where he met cohorts Justin Harris, Rob Mello, Kenny Hawkes and eventually Derrick L. Carter, whom he formed the legendary Classic Recordings. Luke also formed a recording partnership with Justin Harris, and the two are the masterminds behind the label Music For Freaks and their band Freaks, which enjoyed a top ten hit last year with the re-release of their classic The Creeps. In January 2008, Luke Solomon debuted his first solo album, The Difference Engine, released on Rekids, one of Britain’s top-notch dance labels.
Looking back at artists who have shaped the face of popular music over the years, each possessed an originality that could be embraced by listeners irrespective of the style. The Big Red Rooster follows in this path with a mission of fusing its members’ creative visions into a unique blend of undeniably appealing music. Ambitious threads of hip hop, rock, R&B, funk, reggae, and many other styles permeate their highly original sound that they continually refine and are proud to call their own. When these talented six artists – EJ Anthony (drummer), Phil Griffin (bassist), DJ PAC, Ted Lauck (guitarist), MC Multi-Id, Reyez (vocalist) – perform live, their bold-faced passion, relentless energy, and genuine camaraderie ensure that they rouse the crowd and rock the party.
