Pegasus News Week in View: Antiques Roadshow edition

Meanwhile, we have dozens of events in our calendar to help you plan your Independence Day celebration. But first, the news of your 'hood...

Summer Sale Ends June 30

Metro: Dallas mandated spaying and neutering pets. Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert will take questions at a Deep Ellum town hall meeting Friday afternoon. Dallas Progress pooh poohs the DMN plan for a southern Dallas development corporation. Oak Point decided on its last at-large council member. Richardson City News says the Network of Community Ministries is struggling. HP has West Nile.

Movies: On the film front this week, Laura S. gave us an on-set report as a group of North Texas teens worked on the filming of their entry in the Samsung Fresh Films competition. Film guy John reviewed Dario Argento's grisly new horror flick Mother of Tears, covered the Dallas IndieClub's Gong Show event and interviewed Josh Peck and Jonathan Levine, star and director of The Wackness. And look for Alex Bentley's film reviews of Wanted and WALL-E under the movie tab on Friday.

On stage: When Mark-Brian Sonna wasn't sparking comments with his new show How I Learned To Love The Patriot Act, he reviewed Hairspray and Damn Yankees.

Listen up: Slacker Country reviewed Tom Waits' first Dallas concert in almost 30 years. Pikahsso finished the first of several videos he plans to release this summer. Jetscreamer broke up. The Theater Fire says its new CD is due next month. And Brenna heard classic rock in Oso Closo and The Backsliders.

Best Bites: Restaurateur Franco Bertolasi passed away. Town House's new pretzel crackers gave T.G. something to chew on. She also kept tabs on The Next Food Network Star, including local contestant Lisa Garza. West and Clear reports on future plans for the former B.J. Keefer's. A jury also gave Richie Acevedo life without parole for the murder of La Calle Doce and El Ranchito restaurateur Oscar Sanchez, Jr.

Sports: In Todd's Cupcheck, he interviewed for the Nashville owner's job. The Texas vs. Houston rivalry took a turn for the better after the Rangers made a name for themselves in our nation's capital. FC Dallas will host Miami FC Blues in the U.S. Open Cup.

Schools: Tarrant County College is moving downtown. Best Southwest Citizen reports on the local winner of a national debate contest. McKinneyNews.net reports on their ISD's has a new security system. Fort Worth ISD is offering a reward for information in a school theft.

The Biz: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of ExxonMobil, drastically reducing the damages it will pay for the legendary mess they created. Scott spent time with someone everyone in Oak Cliff s“hood" know. TI's foundation gave the Eisemann Center $500K. West and Clear says Museum Place in Fort Worth is expanding to include the former J&J's Hideaway site. Tenet's sold their interest in Broadlane. Dallas' CompuCom got together with Getronics. And Dallas' Tyler got a huge contract with Fort Worth ISD.
