Charley Pride, Dwaine Caraway co-host Catholic Foundation Reception

DALLAS — Charley and Rozene Pride, Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway and Texas State Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway, and The Catholic Foundation Trustee David Small and Becky Small served as co-hosts for a recent evening reception at the African American Museum that highlighted The Catholic Foundation’s support of Dallas’ southern sector. The reception drew elected officials, educators and community leaders from the south Dallas area.

Since 2000, The Catholic Foundation has supported the southern sector of Dallas with grants totaling more than $2.26 million. Funding included:

Bishop Dunne Catholic School- $615,354: Grants supported scholarships and renovations to the facility

Brady Center (Catholic Charities) - $68,195: Grants supported a bus for senior programs and an ESL teacher’s salary

Catholic Charities - $35,838: Grants supported veterans assistance

Children’s Education Fund - $300,000: Grants supported scholarship collaboration

Cross Family Center - $39,069: Grants supported transportation to the center for low income elderly individuals

Holy Cross Church - $16,300: Grants supported a security system and the food pantry

Marillac Center (Catholic Charities) - $143,266: Grants supported replacing an A/C unit and updating computer technology

St. Cecilia School - $191,598: Grants supported replacing heat and A/C system; updating a computer system; a new pre-kindergarten classroom; and furnishings and paint for classrooms and the cafeteria

Santa Clara of Assisi Church - $95,000: Grants supported an addition to the rectory and computers for the church office

Santa Clara Catholic Academy - $201,481: Grants supported a language arts program; new computers, printers and Internet connectivity; and a literacy program

St. Elizabeth of Hungary - $183,500: Grants supported a new Library Media Center; replacement of A/C units; an early reading program; new SMARTBoards; new laptops and projectors; and updating technology labs

St. James Church - $130,000: Grants supported construction of a new church and the purchase of pews

St. Mary of Carmel Church - $90,000: Grants supported construction of Community Life Center as well as equipment and fixtures for the Center

St. Mary of Carmel School - $157,347: Grants supported the expansion of computer technology; electrical, A/C and computer repairs; and a reading program

Chartered in 1955, The Catholic Foundation has dedicated its resources to compassionate charitable giving through grants provided by benefactors through its many planned giving programs.
