Often part of the fun of attending school is the continuation of traditions. Fort Worth ISD’s David K. Sellars Elementary School has a tradition of having an unusual number of students who are twins. This year there are seventeen (17) sets of twins attending the school.

On Friday, October 10, 2008, teachers, students, parents and friends will celebrate this unusual occurrence with their Annual Twins Day.

Sonja Star-Whittaker is the principal of Sellars ES. “For the past 5 years we have had at least twelve or more sets of twins enrolled at out school. There must be something in the water.”

During the annual recognition ceremony, all twins will gather in the school auditorium and participate in a Twin Fashion Show and a Twins Trivia Session. Additionally, members of the faculty will dress in “twin-ky” attire.

In breaking it down, seven sets are fraternal twins and ten sets are identical twins. The Pre-K and 4th grade classes are tied with each having four sets of twins.
