Gasoline prices trending down around North Texas

... and everywhere else, thanks to the tanking price of crude.

Thanks both to decreased consumer demand and the gulf refineries coming back online after Hurricane Ike, prices of gas in the DFW area have gone way down from the levels they were at several weeks ago.

This correspondent spotted regular for $2.94 on the way into the office today, but comparing notes with other PegNewsers here in the office we were informed about prices well below this level.

(There's a Valero station in Plano, apparently, selling it for $2.78, while one trusted source cited a price of $2.54 seen at a station in Sherman over the weekend. But, then, that would involve driving to Sherman...)

In any case, this is a promising trend.
