— Because McKinney city leaders pose questions about the exorbitant cost of restructuring Collin County’s McDonald Street courthouse into a new city hall, they are considering razing the $8 million building and rebuilding.

“The city council has instructed the consultants to go back and look again at the cost involved in renovating this building,” said Mayor Pro Tem Bill Cox. “The most recent estimate, $36.5 million, was double the amount of the original estimate, approximately $17 million, and that caused city council and the city manager to revisit the question as to best use this facility.”

Thanks Minnie!

Kind of a weird spot for a courthouse, though. If I recall correctly, ain't much out that way.
