— High school students in Denton Independent School District are gearing up for the Sixth Annual NorTex College Fair for high school juniors, seniors and parents, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the University of North Texas Coliseum.

The fair features more than 200 colleges and universities, including the University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Baylor University, University of Texas, Texas A&M University, Columbia University and the University of Notre Dame.

Information will be presented on financial aid opportunities, scholarships and general requirements on attending college.

The event serves as a springboard for Denton ISD’s “Education - Go Get It” month in January. “Education - Go Get It” will highlight the importance of higher education for middle and high school students. The month will feature a series of events anchored by parent nights at the high schools, PSAT reporting and eighth-grade parent and student visits to the high school campuses for transition meetings.

Secondary students will receive information about higher education options available, standard college admission requirements, automatic college admission programs and financial aid availability and requirements.

For more information, please contact Melanie Lewis, Denton ISD’s director of counseling services, at (940) 369-0065.
