Food: 2/5 Vibe: 1/5 Service: 1/5 Value: 1/5 Overall: 1/5
Our recent (late 9/08) experience here was unpleasant overall. It was to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived at 7:35 & ordered drinks from the bar & my husband requested soup. It was 8:00 before our drinks showed up & we never did get the soup, though the lady at the table next to us who came in after us, did get her soup before we even had our drinks! They also got their food before us. I think the waitress forgot to place our order, because we didn't see the sushi chefs working on anything after our neighbor's food arrived. the chefs were just standing there. When we got there, there was only ONE other table that had people, a 2-top. There was no one eating at the sushi bar & some singles at the drink bar, so it's not like the place was being slammed. it was a very slow place. We had a bad waitress & horrible service. We ordered two rolls & an a la carte yellow tail. the california roll was okay, when it finally came an hour later. the jalapeno roll, i swear, was over three inches across. they hadn't given us any regular silverwear so i had to ask for some so i could cut it. the waitress asked me if i wanted the kind of chopsticks that were connected, as if i were having trouble. there was no trobule, i have been using chop sticks for over 20 years. the problem was this $12 roll that had only five pieces & was about 4 inches wide. sushi falls apart if you can't get it in in one bite. i have never seen such an untraditionally wide roll before. then the waitress said they referred to the connected sticks as for "white people". we are white & she was white & this was an off-putting, unnecessary comment. the a la carte yellowtail was the thinnest piece of fish i had ever seen at a sushi place. & it was held together with way too much wasabi. i had to scrape it off, the glob was so overpowering to my nose. we ordered more food & one of the dishes was described in the menu as medium rare. i said i'd have to have mine more cooked than that. then she commented that my husband was probably going to end up eating what i could not since it probably was going to end up too rare for my liking. i was thinking, well not if you cook it like i am requesting? why wouldn't i like it if you are doing your job right? when it was finally time for dessert, i had the tempura ice cream which was horrible. they had tempura-ed sponge cake pieces & it was grainy & flavorless. the waitress had described this dessert as "to die for". while my husband ordered cheesecake the same time as mine, i was done with mine before they even brought his out. i mean, how time consuming is it to put a slice on a plate? to boot, they had no spoons! how was i supposed to eat ice cream with a fork? come on, people! we just could not understand the tragically slow service given the emptiness of the place or how completely forgetful this waitress was, or her comments that would have been better off kept to herself. to top it all off, i had presented her with a $25 gift certificate when we ordered, which she again forgot to apply to the final bill. this place totally sucked. it was so bad, one crap incident on top of another, that we redid our anniversary night the next night & just tried to forget this place entirely, which had totally ruined our evening. AVOID. They are hyper-slow & no one is paying any attention in there. The staff is immature & forgetful. If i could give them NO stars, I would.
